Gloria Ann Durk

She was born in Empress, AB to William & Gerda Durk, and lived in Medicine Hat, AB. She then moved to Vancouver, BC, where she met David Baird while working for the railway. They had Michael & Laura and settled in Chilliwack, BC.

Gloria loved flowers & photography, but treasured nothing more than time with family and close friends. Her grandchildren held an incredibly precious place in her heart, and she was happy to live so closely with them. Gloria’s adventurous spirit inspired countless special trips with her loved ones, taking her throughout the world. She will be remembered for her strength, fierce independence, and her loving heart.

Gloria is survived by her children, Michael (Sara) Baird and Laura (Clay) Haluk; grandchildren, Arianna and Marc Baird; brother, Kevin (Dixie) Durk; as well as numerous extended family members, friends, and loved ones.

She is predeceased by parents William & Gerda Durk and former husband David Baird.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Chilliwack General Hospital, Cascades Hospice & Henderson Funeral Home for their care.

Respecting Gloria’s wishes, there will be no formal service. We ask that you honour her memory in a way that feels most comforting for you. Donations in Gloria’s name are welcomed to BC Cancer Foundation.
