With profound sadness, we celebrate the life of Guillermo "Willy" Alfonso Lapus - a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, cherished brother and uncle, loyal friend, and a man whose life was defined by faith, generosity, and an unwavering love for the people around him.
Willy believed that life was a gift to be lived fully. Whether he was exploring a new country, casting a fishing line into a quiet lake, hunting in the mountains, camping beneath the stars, or simply gathering around a table with family and friends, he embraced every moment with gratitude, curiosity, and joy. His adventurous spirit took him around the world, creating lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories that stretched far beyond Canada's borders.
His greatest adventure, however, was the life he built with his family.
Willy shared a lifetime of love with his beloved wife, Christine, and found his greatest pride in his daughter, Danielle, his son-in-law, Andy, and his precious granddaughter, Parker, who brought immeasurable happiest to his life. Nothing made him smile more than being surrounded by those he loved, sharing stories, laughter, good food, and creating memories that will be treasured forever.
A man deep and abiding faith, Willy trusted in God's plan throughout his life. His faith guided the way he treated others, with kindness, humility, compassion, and forgiveness. He belived in seeing the good in people, extending a helping hand without hesitation, and welcoming everyone with warmth and sincerity. We take comfort knowing he has been welcomed into God's loving embrace and is reunited in heaven with his beloved brother, Nonoy.
Willy is lovingly remembered by his wife, Christine; his daughter, Danielle; his son-in-law, Andy; his granddaughter, Parker; his sisters, Nina, Aurora, and Rica; his brothers, Lito and Gerry; and their families. He also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends around the world who were blessed to know his friendship, generosity, and gentle spirit.
He had a profound respect for nature and all living things. The outdoors was where he felt most at peace, and his love for wildlife extended into everyday life. His beloved cats, Nico and Bam Bam, were treasured members of the family and constant companions who brought him endless comfort and happiness.
Those who knew Willy remember his infectious charisma, his quick sense of humour, his quiet strength, and his remarkable ability to make everyone feel like family. He taught us that life's greatest riches are not found in possessions, but in faith, love, friendship, and the experiences we share with one another.
Though our hearts ache in his absence, we are forever grateful for the gift of his life. His legacy lives on in every act of kindness, every adventure embraced, every campfire shared, every sunrise on the water, and every story that brings his memory back to life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to local animal rescue or wildlife rehabilitation organizations in honour of Willy's lifelong love and respect for animals, the outdoors, and God's creation.
