Isaac Esau passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord on March 22, 2018. He was born January 27, 1921, in Orenburg, Russia, and moved with his family to Canada as a child, settling in Manitoba. As a young man, looking for adventure, Ike moved to Chilliwack, B.C. where he met Elsie Friesen. Thus began a deep and lasting love that spanned over 70 years of happy marriage. Four children were born to them and Ike’s greatest loves in life were is wife and family. Ike was also involved in his church for many years in numerous capacities, and found great joy in serving God this way.
He also enjoyed his work as a driver at CFB Chilliwack, driving any and every vehicle the army had to drive. His interest in community was keen and he was involved with coaching Babe Ruth baseball for a number of years. Upon retirement Ike was a volunteer driver for the community, often taking patients to and from appointments in Vancouver and Abbotsford.
Ike had a wonderfully cheerful nature and he was well known for his outgoing personality and, particularly, his laughter.
Ike leaves to mourn his wife, Elsie; son Bill (Marg) of Grand Prairie; daughter Rowena (Norm) Chow of Vancouver; and sons Randy and Les, both of Chilliwack; numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, many family members and countless friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Scott Markey for his excellent care for Ike, as well as staff at Chilliwack General Hospital.
Funeral services for Isaac Esau will be held at Greendale MB Church on Thursday, March 29, at 2:00 pm.
