I sometimes have a tough time with obituaries because I feel if you didn't have some connection with Dad, you wouldn’t be here.
Dad meant different things to different people. He was a husband, a father, a father-in-law, a Papa ... an old friend, a new friend, a father of a friend ... a neighbor ... and you all have a different bond and knowledge of my father.
To Helen and I he was Dad. He was literally the strong silent type, didn't say much but you knew what he meant, felt the love and enjoyed the giggles.
Dad came to Canada in the early 1970's with a wife, two children, two suitcases and $600.00 to his name ... he built a house, a home, he built a company and he built a foundation off of which Helen and I have built our lives. He loved my mother, he loved us, he loved his garden, he loved his Rolls-Royce, he was proud to be a member of the Knights of Columbus, he loved camping, he loved fishing (though I'm sure he only ever caught less than a dozen in his life), he loved his grandchildren, and was thrilled with his great-grandson with whom he shares a love of Cheetos, he was proud to be from Poland, he loved his rum/coke on a Friday evening and his coffee/Baileys on cold nasty days and he loved his little house in Chilliwack.
There are stories we can share of who Dad was to us and then there are those stories that will stay close to only our hearts. Remember them all.
Left behind, filled with sadness but with great belief in the Lord's grace, love and mercy ... Mary, his wife of 58 years, Maria (Bill), Helen (Mike), grand-daughter Theresa, great-grandson Levi and grandson Brock, and his families in England and Poland.
When you speak of our Dad, please don't say we lost him ... we know exactly where he is. ❤
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.woodlawn-mtcheam.ca for the Skrzypczak family.
