First, on behalf of the Wood Family, thank you for visiting this humble memorial to Joan Marie Wood. Words scribed online will last for a long, long time and so your comments and stories here about her are very much appreciated. The friends and family of Joan Wood will always have a place to visit when we think of our time spent with her.

Joan Wood led an amazing life. She was a young girl during the Great Depression; a young lady and Mother during World War II; a calm voice during the turbulent 60's; the kindest Grandmother from the 70's onwards; a public speaker in the 80's; a tap-dancing globe-trotter in the 90's; a college graduate in the 2000's; and, a member of the Greatest Generation. Simply incredible.

Joan was a feisty one! She had a certain inner fire, a crisp wit, and a strength of will that shouted independence and courage. She was also a helluva card player. Never cheated, to our knowledge at least. Perhaps someone caught her once, but we doubt that. : )

Joan Wood was a special lady who will be dearly missed by all that were fortunate enough to know her.

A beautiful lady, wonderful spirit... so many of us at UFV were touched by this woman!  Truly missed.

Well, Joan, I guess you had the last laugh. I came by today to pick you up to go for a "blizzard" and then to the horse races ... but you had gone on without me. Gone on to a place where you will have good company always, with no questions asked. We have been friends for nearly thirty years, my friend, and shared many laughs. I will remember our drives to Abbotsford to get you to your last few classes, our word games, and your keen mind and willingness to dish the dirt about politics. I love you, and I shall miss you.
