Karol Eva Henrotte

Karol was born on May 2, 1944, in Maryfield, Saskatchewan. Growing up as the eldest of her siblings, she was a natural nurturer, often riding horseback to her one-room schoolhouse with her younger brothers and sisters in tow. That caring spirit led her to pursue nursing, a career that took her to many places around the world.

While working at Eriksdale hospital in Manitoba in 1969, Karol met the love of her life, Reginald. Together they built a life rooted in love, family, and adventure. Whether travelling for work or pleasure, she embraced every opportunity to explore the world, visiting India, much of Europe, Asia, Hawaii, Mexico, and many destinations across Canada. She had a genuine appreciation for different cultures and always sought to learn from the people and places she encountered.

Karol was a devoted member of the Anglican Church. Even when she could no longer attend services in person, she remained connected to her faith and church community by joining services over Zoom.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Reginald; her sons, Steven (Saleena) and Danny (Mighele); and her cherished grandchildren, Mattisen, Rylee, Kallie, Maddix, and Gavin. She is also survived by her siblings, Garry, Verla, Donna, and Shirley. Karol was predeceased by her parents, Karl Johnson and Charlotte Eva Johnson (Scott), and by her sister, Colleen Kirkpatrick (Johnson).

Karol will be remembered for her kindness, her quiet strength, and her lifelong thirst for knowledge. Her family treasured the recipes she gathered during her travels, many of which became beloved traditions around the family table. One of the most cherished is the Christmas breakfast of pönnukökur, Icelandic pancakes that continue to bring everyone together each holiday season. She took a sincere interest in the lives of those she loved, always ready with a listening ear, thoughtful advice, or simply a good chat.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Evergreen Hall, 9291 Corbould Street, Chilliwack, British Columbia, on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Karol’s remarkable life. As Karol would often say, “Love to you all.”

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
