

Lyle Henderson Roberts, age 78, of Chilliwack, BC, peacefully passed away on October 28th, after a lengthy battle with a number of health conditions including cancer and heart disease. He was also a kidney dialysis patient for the last nine years.
Lyle was born on September 15th, 1944 in Vancouver and raised there. Over the course of his life he also lived in Salmon Arm, where he raised his family. He went on to also live in both Kamloops and Chilliwack.
Lyle worked hard in his career as a school bus driver for over 30 years with the School District #83 in Salmon Arm. Lyle was also a proud and dedicated firefighter with the Salmon Arm Volunteer Fire Department, eventually working as a Captain in the training department. He often spoke passionately about his time training new firefighters and working on the Salmon Arm wildfire in 1998. .
Lyle was an active member of the Church of Christ in Salmon Arm for over 40 years. His church community was very special to him and he considered everyone there to be his second family.
Lyle believed in giving back to others and was always very generous. He helped fundraise for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and even after he became ill, he participated in the annual Kidney Foundation of Canada walk.
Some of the highlights of Lyle’s live were spending time with his children and grandchildren, trips to England and Hawaii, and living with his son Scott and family, both in Kamloops and Chilliwack. He maintained a great sense of humour and was a free spirit, laughing and telling stories, right up until his death.
Lyle is survived by his three children , daughter Erin Roberts of London, UK; son Kerry (Anja) Roberts and grandsons James, Finnegan and Hayden of Cumberland, BC; son Scott (Lynn) Roberts and granddaughters Ava and Meredith of Chilliwack, BC, and nieces Colleen and Kristine (Vancouver).
He was predeceased by his parents Alexander and Doris Roberts and his brother Wayne.
Special thanks to the staff of the Abbotsford Regional Hospital, the Royal Columbian Hospital, Abbotsford Dialysis Unit and an extra special thank you to the dialysis unit at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, for their continuous compassion and kind care.
Instead of flowers or gifts, before his passing Lyle requested that those wishing to make a donation in his memory do so to either the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. It was also Lyle’s wish to encourage everyone to be an organ donor.
At Lyle’s request, there will be no visitation or service, and his remains will be cremated.
