Her early years were spent in Saskatoon, then Aleza Lake and Kitwanga BC. She also lived in Sinclair Mills, Penticton, Minnesota, Uranium City, Whitehorse and New Zealand.
She moved to Chilliwack in 1968 with her young son, Shane. She married Jack Ballam in December of 1969 and they resided in Rosedale, and later moved to their log home on Hinkley Road. Margaret loved people and was a very community minded person. She worked for Chilliwack Community Services and did volunteer work. She had a great interest in the history of Chilliwack, volunteered at the museum, and wrote a history booklet of Fairfield Island. She loved writing, poetry, knitting and was committed to serving in her church.
Margaret is survived by sister Dorothy Oman; brothers Raymond Doll (Joyce), Delbert Doll (Shirley); son Shane Ellis (Cheryl); grandchildren Brighton and Brooklyn; stepdaughter Jackie McFee (Ron) and grandchildren Malcolm McFee (Bobbie Anne), Heather Shantz (Troy), and Colin McFee (Eryn); 15 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gordon Enns, Dr. Chris and all the support staff from Cascade Hospice. We also thank all her wonderful and supportive friends at her apartment building, her many friends from her church, as well as neighbors and friends over the years. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
