Margaret was born on May 18, 1927, at the Salvation Army Hospital in Vancouver, BC, to Mary and Harry Brockbank. She spent her childhood in the Grandview area of East Vancouver before she later moved to the Dunbar area. Margaret was one of five children: Jack, Dolly, Patricia, and Irene.
In her younger years, Margaret worked at the UBC cafeteria, followed by the Steveston Cannery and White Lunch. After dedicating 29 years to raising her family as a stay-at-home mother, she returned to the workforce at VanCity Savings.
In 1946, Margaret met the handsome young man who would become the love of her life. They were married in 1949 and shared 67 wonderful years together. They first made their home on Victoria Drive in Vancouver before moving to East 33rd Avenue as their family grew. After welcoming their third child, they purchased a larger home just around the corner, where they raised their five children and remained for the next 64 years.
Margaret and her husband shared a love of travel and spent many happy Saturday evenings dancing at the Legion. She found great joy in crafting, knitting, and making her annual trips to Spokane to visit her sister.
A big thank you to the staff at Waverly Senior Village for all their love and support given to Margaret and her family.
Margaret will be remembered for her generosity, quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, and impeccable style. She had a gift for making people smile and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Until we meet again funny lady. See ya later, alligator.
You are deeply loved and forever cherished.
