Mrs. Marjorie Pearl Wright

Marjorie Pearl Crump was born on Feb 14, 1921

At the age of 4 years she and her 3 sisters were sent to an orphanage, in Christchurch, New Zealand and her brother was sent to an orphanage in Tiamaroo, New Zealand.

At the age of 13 years they were sent out to work in various domestic positions.

Early part of World War 2 she joined the RNZAFA – WAAC. She was stationed at Christchurch as a cook and where she met Henry Thomas Wright. They then married on December 22nd, 1943. Towards the end of the war Dad flew to Vancouver and Mom came by boat, as a war-bride. They then settled in Vancouver to begin their new life together. On Feb 14, 1945 mom had a son named Robert Thomas Wright. A few years later on March 13, 1947 along came two girls, Marianna Jean and Ngaire Hannah Wright.

In 1948 we all moved to Chilliwack where Dad got a job.

A year later, on Aug 7, 1949 along came another son, Roderick Charles Wright.

Mom worked at the FraserVale until the mid 50’s when she took a job at CGH as a cook. Mom worked there for may years before becoming a dietician aid.

On Jan 13 1960 mom was again blessed with two little girls, Evelyn May and Ruth Lydia Wright. Mom stayed home with the Evelyn and Ruth for 6 months then returned to work at CGH until retirement at the age of 63.

Unfortunately Dad passed away on Sept 10, 1977, leaving a huge hole in all our lives.

She was a long time active member in the Warbrides, in the 4-H club as a leader in the cooking club, quilting club and the swim club. Her hobbies where knitting. She knitted many items for the family and friends.

After retirement she started her second career of volunteering at the United Church, Salvation Army and Mary Macs, UCW, which she continued to do up to approximately 6 months before her death.

Mom always said that her volunteer work kept her going and gave her a reason to get up in the morning.

Mom leaves behind her six children and their spouses / significant others along with 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, who brought great happiness and much laughter. Mom will be greatly missed.
