Martha was born in 1930 in High River, Alberta, the youngest of 12 children of Jacob and Anna Reimer. She grew up in Duchess, Alberta and moved to BC with her family when she was 15. Martha and George were married in 1949 and lived in Sardis for 64 years. For 40 years, their raspberry farm on Higginson Road was a source of summer employment for many people. Mom was a faithful and long-time member of the Eden Mennonite Church. She was a willing volunteer, serving many organizations over her lifetime. Martha helped in many capacities at Sardis Elementary & Secondary Schools, she canvassed for charitable causes, and enjoyed volunteering with the Red Cross, MCC and Meals on Wheels. George and Martha were also involved with the Heart and Stroke Support Group for many years. She taught Sunday School and played the piano beautifully. Mom was an incredibly social lady who loved to laugh and tell stories. She was known for her delicious cooking and baking, always entertaining and welcoming guests into their home. She loved her family deeply.
Martha was a woman of great faith, a wonderful and kind wife, the best mother and grammie, and a treasured sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed and kept forever in the hearts of those who loved her so very much. Her family wishes to thank the paramedics, the nurses in IV Therapy, the home health support team, and Dr. Bull, for all of their assistance in helping us provide the best of care for our mom. She was grateful for each act of kindness. If friends so desire, donations in Martha’s memory to MCC, or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Memorial Service will be held at the Eden Mennonite Church (46651 Chilliwack Central Rd) on Thursday, August 28th, 2014 at 1:30pm.
