Michael John Hugh Trotman passed away suddenly on Oct 1, 2026, at the age of 66 years. His passing occurred in the woods on an active logging block on a mountain side east of Harrison Lake. Michael died peacefully of natural causes in his pickup truck (crummy) after ending his workday. Michael is predeceased by his parents Arlene and John Trotman, and survived by his wife of 40 years Kelly, daughter Deanne, son in law Chris Pluhowy, grandchildren Emersyn, Canyon, Linden and daughter Kristine Trotman. Michael is also survived by his siblings Maryann Trotman (Kenny), Sherri-ann Trotman, and Robert (Bob) Trotman along with many extended family members and dear friends.
Michael was born in Mission BC. Shortly after his birth the family moved to the Silver Creek, Hope area. This is where Michael lived during his early years. After Michael and Kelly’s marriage in 1986 they made Chilliwack their home.
Michael worked in the forest industry his entire life, having started as a teenager working summers and holidays along side his father John. Logging and forestry would become his lifelong passion.
Michael was an exceptional provider who loved Kelly, their children and grandchildren dearly. He was always welcoming of family and friends and had a gentle way about him that was very endearing. Michael will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We are comforted with the knowledge that he is at home with the Lord.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Main Street Church, Chilliwack on Friday Oct 16, 2026, at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke or Cancer Foundations.
