Milton grew up on a wheat farm in Wadena, Saskatchewan and attended a year of Agriculture School. As a child growing up during WWII Milton was always impressed by the men heading off to war and reflected this in some of the uniforms he wore as a child, most often wearing an Air Force uniform. In 1952 he joined the Air Force. Milton and his family were posted to Baden-Soellingen, 4 Fighter Wing for about 4 years. Milton and family loved to travel and this offered them a few opportunities to take road trips around Europe when on vacation. Upon returning to Canada they lived in Edmonton, Holden and Edmonton again before moving to Chilliwack, B.C. in 1965. Milton and Jennie loved Chilliwack and decided to make it their permanent home.
He loved plants, animals, people and history and always had a story to share. Milton was a very creative person and had several hobbies through the years. The family especially love the birds that he carved out of wood. He inherited his love of taking photos and home movies. He loved music and collected old radio shows.
Milton was a Corrections Officer in the Chilliwack area before his retirement. His career had changed through the years: being part of the ground crew in the Air Force (RCAF), owning his own pool room in Alberta and working as a letter carrier in Chilliwack for the Canada Post.
Milton, our loving thoughts are with you.
There will not be a memorial service. Milton has been cremated and his ashes will be laid to rest alongside his mothers in the Chilliwack Cemetery on Little Mountain.
