Pauline Chan, 55, of Chilliwack, British Columbia, passed away on August 28, 2025 at home in Chilliwack after a courageous eight-year battle with breast cancer. Pauline leaves behind her sons Jason Bui and Kyle Bui, her parents Stanley and Lau Ching Chan, her siblings Sue (Mark) Langer, Watson (Janice) Chan, and Wilson (Karen) Chan, her best friend Adele (Nick) Trotta, and her nieces and nephews.
Pauline was born on June 2, 1970 in Montréal, Québec. She graduated from Chambly County High School and worked as a teaching assistant for the Riverside School Board. Pauline was fluent in Cantonese, Toisanese, Mandarin, English, French, Spanish, and Japanese.
Pauline will be remembered for her generous and loving spirit, for her love of languages, and for her devotion to her friends and family, especially her two sons. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter and will be deeply missed by all.
We would like to recognize Pauline’s medical team at the Montréal Jewish General Hospital: oncologist Dr. Cohen and neurosurgeon Dr. Di Maio. We would like to recognize Pauline’s oncology team at the Abbotsford Regional Cancer Centre, led by Dr. Gilmour. We would also like to thank Dr. Epp and the entire palliative care team, including the care aids, at Fraser Health. Finally, we would like to thank Dr. Kemas and Ms. Fedyk at Gwaii Medical, and Mr. Perumal and the staff at Cascade Pharmacy. Pauline could not have battled her cancer for as long as she did without their compassion and expertise.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you consider donating to the Montreal Jewish General Hospital Department of Oncology or to the Abbotsford Regional Cancer Centre (links are listed below).
