Our mum, Phyllis Pemberton, passed away on May 2, 2023 at the young age of 79. Phyllis was born on November 20, 1943 in Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, England to Christopher Jesse and Elizabeth Dunston. Shortly after, the small family was joined by her sister Doreen in 1944, making their family complete.
In the early 1960s mum met her husband and partner for life, Bryan Pemberton. They were married in February 1965 and began to grow their family, having 3 girls (Donna, Karen and Peta). Ever the pair for adventure, Bryan and Phyllis emigrated to Canada on July 1, 1974; first living in Burnaby, then settling in, what was then a small town, Chilliwack in 1976.
Those of you who knew mum you will remember her from her days working at Zippee’s Janitorial, K-mart and Bentley’s before she retired to enjoy travelling to places near and far with Bryan and friends and family. Some of her favorite times were winter months in Palm Springs, cruising to Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean, all-inclusives in Mexico (especially for her birthday) and returning “home” to England to visit family and friends.
Phyllis was blessed with a loving family. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bryan, her sister Doreen and extended family, as well as her daughters and their families:
Donna (Dale) Cebuliak, Whitehorse, Yukon
Grandchildren: Sheldon Cebuliak (Kim McIntyre); Jesse Cebuliak; and Cassandra Cebuliak – all of Whitehorse, Yukon.
Karen Pemberton, Hope, BC
Grandchildren: Anthony (Haleigh) Vedovato of Harrison Hot Springs, BC; and Blake Pemberton of Chilliwack, BC
Great-grandchildren: Tristian and Knox Vedovato.
Peta Pemberton (Jonny Berlinquette), Mission, BC
Grandchild: Alecia Pemberton (James Wylie) of Abbotsford, BC.
We love and miss you immensely mum and promise to keep your memories alive.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and close friends.
