Dad lived 69 years full of love, life, and hard work. Most of those years were spent with the love of his life, our mom, on farms, starting businesses, and raising us four kids. After mom died nine years ago, he spent his time focused on his kids, grandkids, his yard (especially the red roses planted in memory of mom), work, and helping his neighbours.
He was showing no signs of slowing down, still working 40+ hrs a week with his brother Nolan driving truck, and spending any extra time with family and friends. The last few months were such a gift to our family as he planned some very special days. He finally went on that road trip he’d always wanted to in his Porsche with his brother Darrel and we also went on a family vacation to Savary Island two weeks before his stroke.
We treasure these times and our final days together and feel so blessed to have had a dad that loved us and everyone so well. He was patient and kind, generous and warm, dependable and strong. His smile and joy would light up a room, and he never missed an opportunity to share his latest interesting story with anyone who would listen.
He missed mom deeply through these past years and knowing they’re reunited brings us tremendous comfort in these days of sadness. His legacy lives on through his four kids, Lisa Frede, Leslie Thiessen, Marshall Thiessen, and Amberly Martz, their spouses, as well as his six grandkids, Ollie Martz, Makai Martz, Elias Martz, Aletheia Frede, Charlee Thiessen, and Riley Thiessen.
