My condolences to the Shamro Family. I worked closely with Rick at the Fred Holmes complex on Powell in the 70's. He was a nice man. We had a lot in common, especially the love of Soccer.
Rick was a pioneer in the field of Turbo Chargers along side with Brian Roth.

Saddened to hear of Rick's passing. I grew up beside Rick and his family spending many days playing with him and his siblings in either their back yard or ours. Some instant memories that pop into my mind are when one of the neighbor kids asked to 'hold' my money, he chased them down when they took off running and brought my money back to me. Another was when Jerry had the bar and casts on, I couldn't believe how strong Ricky was when he would hold his brother upside down whilst holding onto the bar. Yet still another was when the robins use to dive-bomb us in my front yard on Sperling. We didn't know it was because they had babies in the nest. Anyway one fell out and Rick braved the onslaught of beaks, carrying it back up the tree into it's nest. Prayers to your family, rest easy.

Please accept my condolences on your unimaginable loss of Rick. My family and I grew up down the lane from Rick and the Shamro family, and I just learned today that he had passed away. We will always remember and admire Rick for his amazing soccer talent and big spirit, and for how happy he and all his many friends were when they were all together having fun in the neighbourhood. We will always remember Ricky with great affection. Our heartfelt condolences to Marge, Gerry, and Julie, whom we know, and our deepest sympathies to Ricks family.

Diane, Trevor and family please accept our heartfelt condolences for your great loss. Rick will always be part of our campfires at the lake! Laughing, joking and "just relaxin". Rick, Di and family have become dear friends and great neighbors to us over the past few years.

Rick was my brother in-law and a good friend. He and Diane opened their hearts and home to me when I need a place to stay in Abbottsford. Recently my wife Judy and I had the privilege of spending 4 great days with him,Diane, my brother Derek and his wife Julie in Las Vegas. It was some of the happiest moments we spend together, I will always remember Rick's kindness and thoughtfulness, a true gentleman. You are already missed my friend.

I met Rick through Diane, my colleague and good Friend. Diane was singing 
lead in a quartet we had formed.  Rick was patient and very good about
sharing his home with us so we had a place to practice. He was always
 pleasant and easy to talk to.  He will be greatly missed.

Richard, you left us way too early. Over the 7 1/2 years we worked side by side, you taught me so much about the business, you were such a patient loving caring teacher to me over the years, like no one I have ever worked with in my life, and I thank you for that my friend.  Sometimes people don't actually say things to their loved ones, but they tell others like me, so maybe you should know that Diane, Trevor, Maggie, and lil Anna, Rick was so proud of all of you, loved you all so deeply...you were his world, and the only thing that mattered to him.
     We have to keep memories of Rick alive so Anna grows up knowing that her Grandpa was truly one of the nicest people anyone  had the privilege of meeting, and I am honored to have had Rick in my life.
     Miss you terribly my friend, but I know you are watching over your loved ones and probably causing trouble up there with your Dad.

its hard when a family member leaves us. We are all in shock and saddened by Ricks death. 
I had the pleasure of having lunch and 2 coffee breaks a day with him for the last 9 years plus all the time in between 8-4 that I would pester him and even before that talking to him everyday (for another 10 years)on the phone before we finally met when he came to work for BD. We find our lunch conversation is lacking now, and will for the foreseeable future. His death has hit us all very hard. My heart goes out to Diane and Treavor and the rest of his family and friends. Anna was the light of his life and she will grow up only knowing him from your memories. But they will be wonderful memories that you will give her, that will help you deal with this pain and let her know what a great man her grandfather was. He will be missed by many.

I will miss you.

My time with Rick was focused around turbo technology over the past 40 years. His need to have it done exactly right, his relentless drive for quality and care will be missed here at BD Diesel and through out North America. He was a good caring man. A friend the industry needed.

Going to miss you Rick.  We had a lot of great times together at TVDI. You were a great boss and an amazing person. I still remember the time I had to drive you to the hospital when you smashed your finger lol! Melanie and I are still in shock. Hugs from the Nyeste family.
