With hearts full of gratitude for a life so well lived, we announce that Rose Marie Harter (née Hallwachs), at the age of 95, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Rose was born on May 13, 1931, and grew up in Bonnyville, Alberta. As a teenager, she proudly held the title of Queen of Ardmore, a reflection of the grace, warmth, and joyful spirit that would remain with her throughout her life.
A dedicated nurse, Rose was deeply proud of her profession. She shared a wonderful life with her beloved husband, Lawrence, who predeceased her in 2003. Together they embraced many adventures, raising their five children while living in Scotland, New Zealand, Alberta, and British Columbia before eventually making Chilliwack their cherished home.
She leaves behind her loving children: Sharon Hadzariga, Debra Mutcher, Daryl Harter, Glenna Astle, and Blair Harter. She was a treasured grandmother to Nathan, Wade, Alisha, Damara, Danielle, Caera, Campbell, and Logan, and was also blessed with many great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her tremendous joy.
Rose's greatest passions were her faith and her family. She was an active member of her church community and a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, whose faith gave her unwavering peace, hope, and purpose throughout her life. She was a faithful prayer warrior who quietly touched countless lives through her love, generosity, and steadfast faith.
She had a special gift for making every person feel seen, loved, and valued. Her home was always welcoming, her table beautifully set, and no one ever left hungry. Whether around the family table or gathered in fellowship, these moments became lifelong memories filled with laughter, conversation, and love.
One of Rose's favourite Bible verses was Psalm 23:6: "Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Those words beautifully reflect the confidence and peace with which she lived and now the joy she experiences in the presence of her Savior.
Family and friends are warmly invited to celebrate Rose's life at Henderson's Funeral Home on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 12:30 p.m., with a reception to follow.
The family wishes to thank everyone who has supported them with prayers, love, and kindness during this time.
