OBITUARY

Sharon Kathleen McLaughlin (Holowach)

21 August, 1938 – 30 July, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

Henderson's Funeral Homes & Crematorium

Sharon Kathleen McLaughlin (Holowach) passed away on July 30, 2026, at the age of 87.

Sharon was born in Montreal, Quebec, on August 21, 1938. She moved to Calgary, Alberta, in 1978, where she spent much of her life, before moving to Chilliwack, British Columbia, for her final four years.

Sharon began her working life with Kraft Foods in Montreal. She later became a stay-at-home mother for 18 years while raising her three children. When she returned to the workforce, she joined Bonar Packaging in Calgary, where she remained until her retirement.

In 1960, Sharon married Michael Holowach. They shared 53 years of marriage before Michael predeceased her.

Those who knew Sharon will remember her quick wit, dry sense of humour and unmistakably sassy edge. She was straightforward, had little hesitation in saying exactly what she thought, and had a knack for delivering a perfectly timed comment that often left those around her laughing. Her humour was uniquely her own and remained one of the most memorable parts of her personality.

Sharon found enjoyment and companionship in swimming, exercise classes with her friends, needlework and puzzles, along with the daily challenge of Wordle and sudoku. These simple pleasures were an important part of her everyday life.

Sharon is survived by her three children, son Peter (Kerrie) Holowach, daughter Lori Gibson, and daughter Nancy (Grant) Dedora; her seven grandchildren, Nick (Julia), Mitchell (Jordan), Ash, Brad, Scott, Ted (Emily), and Kathleen (Alberto); and her great-grandchild, Octavia.

The family extends its sincere thanks to the staff of Chilliwack General Hospital for the care provided to Sharon during her final stay.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Sharon's honour.
