Silvia moved to Chilliwack in the early ’90s to be close to family. She became very active in both the Sardis and Cultus Lake OAP where she met great friends and travelling companions and will be especially missed by the Friday night wine and Canasta crew. Being idle was never an option. She attended Aquafit fit regularly, volunteered at many different events, and was a zone organizer and competitor for BC Senior games, wherein 2016 at the age of 83 she won 4 individual medals in the track and field throwing events.
Her happy place was wherever she could make a garden. The rows were straight and weed-free, and the yields were lovingly shared with family, friends and neighbours.
But her greatest joy and pride were her grandchildren. Gram never missed the chance to cheer them on at ball or hockey games, attended every dance and music recital possible and made sure that they had a supply of cookies, pies and pickles.
Even through life’s struggles and recent health issues, Mom chose to be happy and will be lovingly remembered for her positive attitude, beautiful smile and infectious laugh. Your work here is done but we know you will have already found your next sunny patch of dirt and the bounty will be plentiful.
Celebration of Life Tea will be held May 21, 1-3 pm at the Sardis OAP hall on Tyson Road.
