Surrounded by her family, Susan Enns passed peacefully at the age of 74 following a brief illness with pancreatic cancer.
Susan, being of Mennonite heritage, was born in Mexico, the sixth of sixteen children born to Klaas and Maria Froese. Life for the family was difficult, and only nine of the siblings survived into adulthood, two of whom predeceased Susan.
Susan married Martin in 1975, and together they had five children. Following their divorce in 1993, Susan continued raising her young family on her own with remarkable strength and resilience. Everything she did was for her children and later, for her grandchildren.
After her children were grown, Susan continued to find purpose in the serving of others. Upon retiring as a housekeeper at Birchwood Retirement Home, she dedicated herself to volunteering. She cherished her Mondays at MCC and Tuesdays packing for Ukraine. She also faithfully served in her church community and was so grateful for the opportunity to participate in a mission trip to Ukraine.
In her final weeks, the legacy our mother leaves behind became beautifully evident. The countless visitors, phone calls, and messages were a reflection of the kindness, compassion and generosity she shared with those around her.
Susan’s legacy of kindness lives on in her children, Aggie (Stan), Henry, Monica, Mandy, Vickie, and her grandchildren Ethan and Liam.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 20th at Eden Mennonite Church at 11:00am, with a reception to follow. 46551 Chilliwack Central Rd
