Verna held a number of jobs throughout her life, one of which was the Vancouver Sun where she met her husband Carl Huhn. Ultimately, she retired working for the Federal Government at Elbow Lake Correctional institute in Agassiz, BC.

Verna was a member of the Chilliwack Legion and always talked about the amazing people she got to know through that organization and the support she received at times she needed help.

Verna was pretty independent right up until her passing and although she lived her final days at the Auburn facility for independent living, she still liked to drive, shop and cook for herself even though all the meals were provided.

Verna had a special place in her heart for Chilliwack, it’s history and the family roots that she belonged to. She loved to read her daily paper, do her crosswords and stay current with social media.

Verna will be sadly missed by her family, friends and all that knew her.

I got to know Verna through Stev and she was an amazing person with great stories of the past one of them was of my mother and her that went to school 🚸 together.. I had my mom pass on to the other side and its been hard for me. Some people say it gets easier.. But honestly my love for her is still very strong 💪. Verna will always be in my heart and I am truly blessed to have met such a wonderful person in the arms of love (God) watching over us and taking care of us. The lord keep you strong and may the warmth of his sunshine always be with on your face and his cool breeze always be at your back. God bless you richly.. Your busy dizzy friend paul

I spoke with Verna on the 22nd. of February and we had a very long and a very good talk. She told me so many things about family from years gone by as we spoke of our cousin Ken Rannie that had just passed away. This is such a surprise to hear such sad news. Thinking of the family at this time. I was looking forward to seeing Verna this spring or summer when she told me her grandson was getting married in Kelowna and that her son would be driving her up for it. I asked her to come and stay with me in Pritchard and would drive her home. I am very sad now that won't happen. I don't know many of my cousins really well aside from a few but was getting to know Verna and we did get along well. I will miss her. A lovely lady.
