Alice Morton Holder

China Grove-Alice Morton Holder, 87, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Trinity Oaks Nursing Home. Born September 22, 1927 in Anson County, she was a daughter of the late Willie Blair and Mary Helen Threadgill Morton. Alice had retired from China Grove Cotton Mill after 40 years of service. She had also worked as a loving caregiver for many families, as well as working at the China Grove meal site for several years and for Food Lion. She was a faithful member of Southside Church of God, where she was active in playing the piano, singing and the Ladies ministry. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, loved her family, people and especially her grandchildren, who were the love of her life. Mrs. Holder enjoyed gardening, canning, the beach, pier fishing, sewing, and selling Avon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Holder. Family members left with cherished memories include her daughter, Lynn Harkey (Jeff); her son, Tommy Holder (Andrea); grandchildren, Matthew Harkey (Brittany), Jeffery Harkey (Kristy), Tommy Holder, Jr. and Brandon Holder; her sisters, Helen Fortner, Eunice Burris, Imogene Roach (Paul) and Patricia Dellinger; brothers, Willie Blair Morton, Jr. and James "Buddy" Morton (Shirley); great-grandchildren, Mina and Jefferson Harkey and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday evening 6:00-8:00 pm at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove. Funeral services to celebrate and remember her life will be at 2:30 pm Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Southside Church of God, conducted by the Revs. Joyce Miles and Michael Oney. Burial will follow in West Lawn memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Southside Church of God, 163 3rd Ave., China Grove, NC 28023.
