

Born in Rowan County on February 16, 1933, he was the son of the late Tillman Arthur Swinson and Bessie Emma Swinson.
In addition to his parents, David was also preceded in death by his brothers, James Swinson and Edwin Swinson and sisters, Gracie Swinson Cook and twin infant sisters, Brenda Kay Swinson and Linda Faye Swinson.
David worked in sawmills, mobile home manufacturing and Burlington Industries. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, and then in the US Merchant Marines being stationed at RAF Brize Norton Air Base in Oxfordshire, England.
He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Kannapolis, NC.
Those left to cherish his memory are his brothers Ralph Swinson and Tony Swinson and one sister, Patsy Shoe. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
A graveside service with military honors will begin at 1:30 PM at Salisbury National Cemetery.
