

Mrs. Debra Jean Hyman Morris, age 66 of Salisbury passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Novant Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte after a sudden illness. Born October 21, 1956 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Arnold Ray Hyman and Mary Agnes Fryer. She was educated in the Cabarrus County Schools and was a member of Phaniels Baptist Church. She spent most of her life working for Tuscarora Yarns as one of the few female mechanics. She most recently worked for S&D Coffee prior to her retirement. She was an avid Carolina Panthers fan and loved to play Scrabble. Her dogs Lucy and Baby and cat Luna meant the world to her.
She was strong, brave and always fought for what she loved. She had an amazing laugh just like her mother. Most of all she loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Roy Lee Burris Jr. and Thomas Broome.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 28 years Rickie Morris, her beloved daughters Amanda Burris-Hinson and Cheryl Tomlin (Robert), her sister Cathy Overcash (Donald) and brothers Ray Ross and Ron Ross and her nieces and nephew. Her grandsons Zach Hinson and Justin Boone were the pride and joy of her life.
She was blessed with 43 years of friendship with Donna Roten.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to South Rowan Animal Hospital, 502 North Main St. China Grove, NC 28023. Those donations will be used for the care of her animals.
