

Born in Rowan County on January 5, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Arthur E. Cross and Myrtle Bangle Cross Barnes.
In addition to her parents, Dona was also preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Baity in 2011.
Dona worked as an Account Specialist with Wells Fargo Bank for 30 years. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as the church pianist until her passing. Dona loved her church family dearly.
She was a kind soul and loved helping others. She was a friend to everyone she knew, and will be greatly missed.
In 2013, Dona married James Frederick Sidden, whom she was devoted her life to over the last 12 years.
In addition to her husband, James, she is survived by her step-daughter, Glenda (Philip) Reid and family; her God-child, Dona Fischback; Keighley Cain, who was like a granddaughter to her; one niece, and one nephew.
She is further survived by her brother-in-law, Charles (Susie) Sidden; sister-in-law, Margaret Faw; and a host of special friends, who supported her and James during good and difficult times.
Those friends and caregivers include, Mona Parker, Willie and Deborah Watts; Ms. Wanda, Ms. Bebis, Ms. Bert, Martie Maynard Ellis, and Callie Smith.
The family will speak to friends Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church.
The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM at the church with Pastor Jeff Hiatt officiating. Entombment will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Liberty Baptist Church 1365 Brookwood Drive China Grove, NC 28023.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Pastor Jeff Hiatt and the Liberty Baptist Church family and all the wonderful friends and neighbors who have shown their love and care to Dona and James over the years.
