

Born in Rowan County on August 6, 1946, he was the son of the late Lewis Basinger and Ruby Troutman Basinger.
Michael graduated from South Rowan High School – Class of 1964 and proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1965 – 1969.
For 32+ years, he was a supervisor with United States Postal Service, having worked in Concord, then in the Charlotte main office.
Michael was a member of Mount Zion United Church of Christ for 60 years, serving faithfully as a Deacon, Usher and Sexton of the cemetery.
He loved playing golf, going fishing and was known for his “green thumb.” A past member of the Salisbury Rose Society, Michael was a master at growing rose bushes. Most of all, he loved his family and will be missed greatly by all that knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, L.C. Basinger, Evelyn B. Roberts, Kathleen B. Standley, Norman Basinger, Bernice B. Carter, Larry Basinger and Gaynelle B. Moose.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Brenda Sechler Bassinger; daughter, Amy Bassinger; son, Joshua Bassinger (Allen Lane); and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Mount Zion United Church of Christ.
The funeral service will begin at 3:00 PM with Rev. Jim Simonds officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
