

Born on January 17, 1925 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Marian Butler and Elma Yost Weddington.
A graduate of Landis High School, Mr. Weddington served his country in the US Army during WWII, serving in Germany. Earlier in life, Mr. Weddington was a member of Lutheran Chapel Church, and for the last 65 years, he was a faithful member of Mount Zion United Church of Christ, where he served as sexton, deacon and elder.
and a member of the Mens Bible Class.
Mr. Weddington retired from Cannon Mills after 40 years of service. After his retirement he worked for John Weddington Greenhouse for 19 years and helped with Ken Weddington Auction Co. His hobbies included gardening, fishing and Atlanta Braves Baseball. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Butler and Carl Weddington, sisters Helen Suther and Rachel Hunter.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 65 years Cora Rymer Weddington, sons Stephen Weddington and Donald Weddington (Gayle) both of Salisbury. He is also survived by brothers, Kenneth Weddington (Joyce) of China Grove and Ralph Weddington (Mary Ellen) of Charlotte, sister Mary Frances Hough (Claude) of China Grove and sister in law Gladys Weddington. His grandchildren are Ashley Snipes (Daniel) of Mebane, Brandi Boling (Shawn) of Salisbury and Cora Beth Weddington and fiance McKinnon Dellinger of Asheville.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6-8 at Linn Honecyutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral on Thursday at 11:00am at Mount Zion United Church of Christ, with Rev. Mark Burns, minister. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, with military honors by the Rowan County Honor Guard.
