Ms. Virginia Davis, age 77 of China Grove, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at NOVANT-Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury after a brief illness. Born March 8, 1943 in Rowan County, Virginia was the daughter of the late William L. Davis Sr. and Edith Honbarger Davis. In addition to her parents, her sister, Judy Davis Barnhardt also preceded her in death. She was a 1961 graduate of Landis High School and went on to attend Kings Business School.
Virginia was a lifelong member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. She spent her career working for Southern Bell (now BellSouth) for 32 years as a secretary. After her retirement, she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers volunteer group. In her younger years, she loved to travel – visiting Hawaii, Ireland and Puerto Rico and some places out west, as well as all over North Carolina. Virginia loved her Lord and Savior and spent her life in service and helping others. She adored her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and spent time caring for them and just loved being with them. Family meant the world to her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Margaret Varnadore, Nancy Beaver (Eddie), along with her brothers, Billy Davis (Debbie) and Terry Davis (Barbara). She also leaves behind eleven nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews who were all so special to her.
A Private Service for Virginia will be on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 2:00pm at Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, officiated by Dr. Jody Seymour. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested you kindly remember Virginia with memorials in her honor to Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 4820 NC Hwy 152 W, China Grove, NC 28023.
