

Carlos Alberto Borges, lovingly known to many as Sergeant Borges, passed away on April 29, 2026, at the age of 54 after a catastrophic stroke. Born on July 17, 1971, in Pomona, California, Carlos lived a life defined by loyalty, strength, humor, and deep love for his family and friends.
Carlos dedicated 24 years of service to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He began his career on November 2, 1996, at the California Institution for Men as a Correctional Officer and was promoted to Correctional Sergeant on January 15, 2007. He remained proudly committed to CIM until his retirement in 2020. Following his retirement, Carlos continued his commitment to public service by joining the Baldwin Park Police Department.
Above all else, Carlos was a devoted father to his daughter, Rayiana Borges, whom he loved beyond measure. He is survived by his mother, Maria Borges; his sisters, Daiana Parker and Ashley Borges; his partner Carla Kinghorn; extended family; dear friends; and countless colleagues whose lives he impacted throughout his years of service.
Outside of work, Carlos was passionate about the things that brought him joy. He was a lifelong fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Las Vegas Raiders, an avid collector of comic books and action figures, and especially loved Batman. Music was also a huge part of his life, and he enjoyed listening to Morrissey, The Smiths, and Depeche Mode. He adored his two French bulldogs, Luna and Dodger, who brought him endless happiness and companionship.
Carlos will be remembered for his unwavering dedication, his sense of humor, his generous heart, and the lasting impact he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m. at Bellevue Memorial Park. A reception will be held afterward at 1:00 p.m. at the Portuguese Hall in the downstairs hall.
