

Joyce Cecilia Iverson, 88, of Chino, passed away December 26, 2011 at home with her family by her side. She was born November 22, 1923 in Eckelson, North Dakota and resided in Chino for 40 years. Joyce lived in Inglewood, Ca for 18 years prior to moving to Chino. She worked in Central Food Services for the Chino Unified School District for 14 years until her retirement in 1987; she loved working at the Chino schools too. Joyce attended school in Valley City, North Dakota. Through the years, Joyce volunteered to help at the church with Religious Education for the First Communion classes. She was involved with the Altar and Rosary Society and the Legion of Mary in her church in Chino and her church in Inglewood. Joyce was married to Calvin for 61 wonderful years. She loved her family very much. Joyce loved to travel to visit family and friends as often as possible. She also enjoyed dancing, playing Bingo, cards or putting puzzles together. When her children were growing up she was a stay at home Mom, she helped with Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. After having her stroke in 2001 she belonged to a stroke survivor support group and she enjoyed her friends from there too.
Joyce is survived by her husband Calvin Iverson; daughters Maxine Iverson Schalk (Tony), Rachel Iverson Andrews (Bill); sons Stanley Iverson (Diana), Wayne Iverson (Carlee) and Duane Iverson (Cindy), grandchildren: Paul Raymer, Melissa Hale, Corey Crawford, Lena Iverson, Curt Borland, Cindy Murphy, Chris Iverson, Jessica Douglas, Kevin Hunter, Joshua Iverson, Eric Iverson, Kevin Iverson, Jennifer Iverson, Kyle Iverson, great-grandchildren: Tabatha Swindel; Brittany Borland; Allen Stanley, Darian Hale, Mary Stanley, Jordan Hale, Shira Stanley, McKenzie Campbell, Steven Iverson; Camden Borland, brothers and sisters: Kathleen Miller; Maurice Sauer & wife Gudrun; Rosemary Meidinger & husband Albert; Jerome Sauer & wife Kay; Wilma Failing.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Katherine Sauer; brothers: Stanley, Cyril and Simon. Visitation hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2011 at Pierce Bros Griffith Mortuary in Chino with rosary beginning at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2011 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Chino.
