Maria Elena Tarango Castañeda, age 89 passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021. Maria Elena was born June 20, 1932 in Chihuahua, Mexico. She was the youngest of 8 siblings. She moved to El Paso Texas when she was just two months old. At age 25 she and her mother, Manuelita Piñon Tarango moved to California. She was a resident of Monterey Park, CA for 54 years.
She was employed at Garcia's Jewelers in East Los Angeles, CA for 63 years where she was dedicated and attentive to all who entered the store.
Maria Elena is survived by her sister Francisca Tarango Garcia; son Carlos Maldonado; and daughter Maria Elena Maldonado Montoya.
Maria Elena was preceded in death by her husband Juan Ubaldo Castaneda; and son Rafael Tarango Maldonado.
She had 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous loving family members and friends. She loved her entire family bushels and bushels.
