Marie Armijo was born November 15, 1929 to her parents Jose Mosqueda and Ignacia Saldana in Houston, Texas. She was the loving wife of Cipriano Alfonso Armijo. Through their union, they were blessed with 8 children; Maria, Dolores, Veronica, Patricia, Rita, Cipriano, Angela and Michael. They made their home in Lakewood, California.
Marie had a heart for helping others and was a volunteer at TBN. It was there that she put to work her great faith in Jesus and answered phones to pray with callers who needed uplifting. She shared the love of God and the message of salvation with anyone who would listen.
Marie was young at heart and enjoyed collecting dolls. She rarely passed up an opportunity to add to her ever growing collection. Being young at heart made for the perfect gateway into her granddaughters hearts. Marie spent time with her granddaughters watching Disney Channel, painting nails, combing hair and cracking the safe to play with her valuable jewelry. She had an eye for good diamonds.
Marie loved her growing family. They were truly what made her heart content. Gathering together for family functions were quite the occasion with roaring laughter and standing room only. Marie was satisfied in the presence of her children and family. Yes, this simply made her happy. She marveled at how good God was to have blessed her and her husband Cipi with such a beautiful family….or as she put it; “and to think, two people did all this.”
Marie was a wonderful woman, with a beautiful heart. She was also feisty and strong willed. Marie loved telling stories of her youth. Going to college and playing basketball were favorite topics of hers. You were guaranteed to walk away with a funny new phrase to implement in your own daily conversation. There were many characteristics that made Marie the “one of a kind” woman she was.
The matriarch of our family, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marie Armijo was called home to be with the Lord on March 27, 2015 in Ontario, California. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children Maria Rodriguez, Veronica Ware, Patricia Armijo, Rita Rivas, Cipriano Armijo Jr, Angela Vega and Michael Armijo; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marie is preceded in death by her husband Cipi and daughter Dolores.
Though we are saddened to lose her, we are left with the assurance that we will see her again.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
