Theresa was a second Mom to us.  Her Mom role --and Grandma role--sprang from deep inside of her and grew with each passing year.  Theresa's great love and compassion for Paul and Renee--and the many other people in her life--were her hallmark and she will always be remembered for those qualities.  
Theresa truly loved to enjoy the company of family and friends.  Her laugh still rings in my mind--I hope that it will remain with me forever.  God bless you, Theresa, and may He always hold you close!  

Theresa was a wonderful, sweet woman who I met as “Paul’s Mom” and over the years became another mother to me and a very dear friend. Theresa was a gracious hostess who worked tirelessly in the kitchen, making her specialties for us, her extended family. 

Theresa’s cooking prowess is legendary—but, truth be known, it wasn’t always so. For much of her life, Theresa wasn’t the lead in the kitchen because her mother, Rena, was a consummate cook! On many occasions, Paul’s beloved Grandma Massaro delighted my husband Greg with her cuisine. As a matter of fact, on my sympathy card to Theresa at Grandma Massaro’s passing, I lauded her meatballs, saying how very much “Mama Massaro’s World Famous Meatballs” would be missed!” At Rena’s Rosary, when I offered Theresa my sincere condolences, she looked up at me, smiled and said, “Mary, Mama Massaro’s World Famous Meatballs—that was so sweet! I guess I have my work cut out for me.”

You see, although Theresa had spent her life cooking at the side of her remarkable mother, she was sure that her meatballs fell far short of her Mom’s. With Rena’s sad passing, the torch was passed to Theresa and she took it up--with a passion! After all, she had Tom, Paul, her family and extended family—including Greg and me--to please; and she was determined to make her mother proud! 

Cooking batch after batch of meatballs, Theresa slowly perfected her own signature meatballs! They were fabulous! Sharing her delicious food was one way that Theresa showed you that she loved you. Greg was always thrilled when he received a batch of “Theresa’s World-Famous Meatballs!” She loved him and he and I definitely loved her.  In the last year or so, cooking was too difficult for Theresa and she gave it up. But before she quit, she made meatballs and gave some of them to Greg. Recently, Paul said that they were the last meatballs that she gave away.  What a blessing for Greg!

And what a true blessing Theresa was to all of us!

I was younger than Theresa, and I always looked up to her and admired her.  Though most of our lives we lived far apart, we spoke often on the phone, sharing so much.  I loved her and will never stop missing her.
