Joe was a long time resident of Chowchilla, California. Joe passed away Thursday August 2, 2018 at the age 90 in Merced California.
Joe was a retired professional truck driver and when he was not on the road driving you could find him at the river or lake with a rod and reel in hand as he was an avid fisherman. Joe also loved camping and being outdoors. Joe was also known for his mechanical skills and all around handyman skills, if it needed to be fixed you know Joe would be the man for the job.
Joe is survived by longtime companion Paula McAdam-Gwartney; his sons Roger Gwartney and Truman Gwartney and sister Louise Ballentine. Joe also has a legacy that he leaves behind to cherish his memory 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and many more family members and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Cecil F. Gwartney and Juanita J. Gwartney; his sister Fenneta Chastain and his beloved daughter Joann Morgan.
A visitation for Joe will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Palm Memorial Worden Chapel, 140 South 6th Street, Chowchilla, California 93610. Private burial will be held at a later date at Chowchilla District Cemetery.
