Theresa Helen Mato

Theresa Mato (Sabados) passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Madera Nursing & Rehabilitation after a year-long illness. Theresa was born November 7, 1930 in Pottsville, PA to Andrew & Regina Sabados.

Theresa moved to Chowchilla, CA over 50 years ago. She met the love of her life Michael Mato & they were married for 19 years until his death in 2011 at the age of 97.

Theresa and her husband Mike were very active in Chowchilla, and could be seen volunteering for many organizations, giving unconditionally of their time to help others. Theresa was the founder of St. Columba Parish Pantry, working diligently for 23 years to help feed the needy until health issues forced her to retire.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, & a brother Jimmy Sabados.

She is survived by her brothers, Deacon Andrew A. Sabados, Sr. & wife Grace Ann, of Hamilton NJ; John Sabados & wife Laverne, Joseph Sabados & wife Judy, sister Mary Ann Sabados-Terway, all of PA Also surviving, is a cousin Dolores Freese of Sacramento California, many cousins from California, Pennsylvania & North Carolina.

Theresa is also survived by a sister-in-law, Adele Mato of Chowchilla, nephew Michael Mato & wife Joene, of Rocklin CA, niece, Teena Blair & husband Bob of Chowchilla CA., step daughter Wanda Greydanus & husband Jim of Selma CA, niece Sandra Watson & Husband Wayne of Merced CA, niece Debra Staples of Ardmore OK, & nephew John Mato of Chowchilla, along with numerous great nieces and nephews.
