
Elvin was born on August 15, 1940 in Williamsport, Ohio to the late Walter and Edith (Hamilton) Lewis. He graduated from Williamsport High School, Class of 1958. Elvin worked at John Deere for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of Heber Lodge #501 in Williamsport, Ohio. Faith was also important to him, and he was a member of the Westgate United Methodist Church in Columbus, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, Elvin is preceded in death by his siblings, Wilma Jean Chew and Eddie Lewis.
Elvin is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Phyllis Lewis; his siblings, Marilyn Holloway and Beverly Lewis; his nieces, Joy (Dale) Hartley and Amy (Doug) Johnson; his great-niece and nephew, Cody (Brittany) Hartley and Cierra Johnson; his great-great-niece and nephew, Alleigh and Corbin Hartley; and many other relatives and friends.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the doctors and nurses of The James Cancer Center at The Ohio State University.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Defenbaugh Wise Schoedinger, 151 E Main St, Circleville with a Masonic Service at 6:30pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 11:00am with Reverend Kevin Orr officiating. Elvin will be laid to rest at Springlawn Cemetery in Williamsport, Ohio.
