Phil was born in Circleville, Ohio on September 13, 1942. He was the beloved, only child of Wilber and Dorothy Adkins.
Phil was kind, polite, and quick-witted, with a natural gift for making people smile and laugh. He was an enjoyer of music and theatre, and he was even a tap dancer in his early years. He had a playful spirit and loved attending festivals, Renaissance fairs, and haunted houses—always embracing the fun and joy of the moment.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and had a deep love for history—particularly war history. He was also a collector of historical relics, always on the lookout for items that preserved a piece of the past. Even in his final months, he could pick up a new book and effortlessly explain the historical context—or share the story behind the old painting of a Kentucky home hanging in his room.
Above all else, Phil was a man of faith. He loved his family deeply, returning home to Circleville to care for his ailing mother, and out of devotion to his late wife Janet, he never remarried.
Phil is survived by his daughters, Cathy (Dan) and Krista (Bob); his five grandchildren, Eric (Amy), Ryan (Karol), Olivia, Nick and Holly. He also leaves behind four great grandchildren, Parker, Anna, Ella and Owen.
His funeral will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 12:00pm at Hitler Ludwig Cemetery, 1819 Hitler Rd 1, Circleville, Ohio with Military Honors.
