

Wallace Wayne “Wally” Higgins, age 95, of Circleville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. He was born August 7, 1930 in St. Charles, Michigan to the late George Matthew and Margaret Elizabeth (Dillard) Higgins.
Wally was a retired schoolteacher with 30 years of dedicated service. He also served two years in the U.S. Army, including a deployment in Korea. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master's degree in History and Government from Ohio University.
A longtime member of the Presbyterian Church, Wally served as an elder within the congregation. He was a life member of both the Pickaway County and Ross County Historical Societies, and a former member of the Brooks Yates Board, where he helped to form their residential program. He also founded and served as past president of the Pickaway County Historical Society.
Wally was a founding member of the Roundtown Players and was deeply involved in the arts and local history. A passionate historian, writer, and artist, he was also a member of the Roundtown Conservancy and led the “In the Know” team at Circleville High School.
As an author, Wally wrote several works, including Of Saints and Sessions, Roundtown Rhymes, and Roundtown Reminiscences.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dillard and Vance Higgins. Wally is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Carol Higgins; daughter, Kathleen (Edward) Kahn; son, Mitchell Higgins; granddaughter, Madeline; beloved family friend, Justin Atkinson; and several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 11:00am at the Circleville Presbyterian Church.
