Ann was born on Thursday, April 17, 1958, in Queens, New York, to Richard Everett Runyon Sr., and Dona Jean Conklin Runyon. In her early years, Ann lived in Spain and Guam during her father’s Navy postings. After her father retired from the Navy, the family settled in Annandale, Virginia. She attended Wilston Elementary School, Poe Middle School, and Annandale High School, graduating in 1976.
After living in Maryland and Virginia for many years, Ann moved to Clayton, NC, where she remained until her death. Over the years she worked in several sectors of the economy, to include banking, defense and aerospace, and health care. Most recently, she worked at Verisma, a health information technology company, where she was a Release of Information Specialist.
Ann loved gardening and taking care of her plants and was always working on household projects. She appreciated art in many forms but had a special love for the theatre and attending shows, especially in NYC. She also loved traveling, visiting Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Bahamas, as well as many states in the U.S., but she most enjoyed being at the beach…any beach. Her pride and joy were her dogs, Molly and Bailey. Ann was spiritual and loved the Lord and will always be remembered as a very kind, generous, and thoughtful person; someone who was always welcoming and warm.
Ann is survived by her sister, Averill Runyon Springer (Scott), brother Richard Runyon Jr. (Sandi), mother, Mary Lou Runyon, nephew Jonathan Springer, niece Christina Springer, sister Lynn Maxwell (Steve), brother Mark Smith (Elizabeth), niece Emily Smith, nephew Michael Smith, along with beloved aunts, uncles, and many cousins as well as many, many friends that she loved so much. She was grateful for everyone in her life.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Donald and Blanche Runyon, Herbert Boschen, parents Richard and Dona Runyon, sister Alison Runyon, nephew Gabriel Maxwell and niece Jordan Springer.
Services will be private. Interment date to be determined.
