Barbara was born in Johnston County on November 1, 1950 to the late Bobby Jennings Godwin and the late Pearlie Mae Eason Godwin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Lynn Lee, her granddaughter Dreamer Elysia Godwin, and her sister Jean Godwin Wilkins.
Barbara had a large family, and took great joy in spending time with them, as well as keeping up with their lives. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her pride, and joy. She kept a wall full of pictures of each of them, never shy to show them off. She also held a deep love for many extended family, and friends. She was always quick to let each of them know how beautiful, and special they were to her.
A member of Wilsons Mills Church of God for 32 years, Barbara was a devout Christian, and loved her lord. She taught Sunday school, and was especially proud to be involved with the youth of her church. She never missed a chance to attend a church function. Her faith, and brothers and sisters in Christ, were the foundation of her life.
Barbara had a great passion for life. She brought a sincere, and loving spirit everywhere she went. She did everything with a smile, taking happiness in the presence of others no matter the activity. Never shy with a hello, and a smile, Barbara was a proud resident of her community. May her love, and impact echo through the years. She will be missed by many.
She is survived by her children: Bobby Anthony Godwin (Heather Godwin), Rodney Travis Mitchell (Jackie Mitchell), and Andrea Brook Godwin; grandchildren, Samantha Gayle Davis (Brad Davis), Joshua Caleb Mitchell, Kristin Nichole Mitchell (Tammy Mitchell), Allen Jordan Godwin, Jonathan Wayne Mitchell (Patricia Mitchell), Jeremy Taylor Godwin (Olivia Godwin); great grandchildren, Juliana Rae Mitchell, Adam Orion Godwin; and sister, Brenda Godwin Sullivan (Larry Sullivan).
