Beverly was born in Oklahoma on May 18, 1934, to the late Coy Dell and Emma Lee Hefner Beverage.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Billie Thomas Thornton Sr. and sons, Gary Dell Thornton Sr. and Roy Thomas Thornton (stillborn); a granddaughter, Shelby Alexandria Regi (stillborn) and several siblings.
Beverly grew up as the tenth of twelve children in New Mexico where she would meet and eventually marry her husband Billie in 1956 and together would have seven children. She had a successful career working at Dorothea Dix Hospital before her retirement in 1994. After her retirement, Beverly spent her time being a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Thornton; her children; sons, Timothy Dean Thornton (of the home), Billie Thomas Thornton Jr. (Beth) and Ronald James Thornton (Sandi); daughter, Tracey Thornton Bowen (Joe), and son, Barry Merle Thornton Sr. (Christy). Grandchildren, Becca Grissett, Gary Thornton Jr., Justin Skok, Dallas Thornton, Barry Thornton Jr., Holly Blake, Amanda Cuoco, Kaitlyn Regi, Taylor Thornton, and Brittany Thornton; twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at 2:00pm in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. The entombment will follow the services at Pinecrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.
While flowers are accepted, the family wishes for memorial contributions in Beverly's name to be made to the SECU Hospice House 426 Hospital Rd. Smithfield, NC 27577.
