Blake Harrison Gordon, 43, of Clayton, North Carolina passed away unexpectedly on June 20, 2025. Blake was born to Marilyn Thompson Gordon and Jerry Odell Gordon in Winston-Salem, N.C. and was raised there. He attended Glenn High School and completed some studies at Western Carolina University and Appalachian State University.
He is survived by his loving father and stepmother, Jerry and Sharon Gordon, his sister and brother-in-law Amy and Michael Lawson, his brother Wesley Gordon, and his niece and nephew Addison and William Lawson along with several loving aunts, uncles, and many cousins; as well as lifelong friends, who he considered as family. He was predeceased by his mother, Marilyn Thompson Gordon.
Blake was a kind, caring person who regularly would call up friends and family to keep up to date with everyone. He was particularly fond of his niece and nephew and made sure to be a part of their lives. He also would often trade insults in jest and joke with his siblings and close friends. Blake enjoyed listening to music, playing computer games, and socializing with his friends. Two of his favorite places were the family cottage at Kure Beach, where he would relax and enjoy the ocean; and Cattail Lake where he frequently found solace.
Blake will always be remembered for the love and affection he showed family and friends. The strength and courage he displayed in fighting mental illness inspired all who knew him. Sadly, his pain became overwhelming.
The family is very grateful to his friends, family, and colleagues who have supported Blake throughout his journey in life. In particular, the family expresses our gratitude to Norwood and Sandra Thompson and the entire Walthom Group family, where Blake worked for the last 20 years, his co-worker and good friend, Cole Gilbert, and Celeste Perez for their unwavering support.
A memorial service celebrating Blake's life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Blake’s memory to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (nami.org)
