Carey Rogers Barbour

Carey Rogers Barbour passed away peacefully at Well Spring Retirement Community in Greensboro, NC on Monday, July 31, 2017 just 3 weeks shy of her 94th birthday. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Clayton, NC with Dr. Mark White officiating. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. She was born in Clayton, NC on August 21, 1923 to the late Gladys Rogers Barbour and Julian Dwight Barbour, where she lived most of her life and was a devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Betty Barbour Bowman and Alice Barbour Wilson. She is survived by her nieces; Betty Bowman Grey of Whiteville, Anne Bowman Fitsimmons of Hickory, Alice Carey O’Reilly of Morehead City and Alice Wilson Newell of Greensboro, nephews; Earl Ledbetter Bowman of Winston Salem and Gordon Frank Wilson of Matthews, NC, cousins; John Barbour of Clayton and Nancy Barbour Chambers of Wake Forest, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
