Carol Thigpen Howell, age 82, of Clayton, NC passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. Born in Johnston County, NC, on January 3, 1942, she was a daughter to the late Zomas Thigpen and Ruby Johnson Thigpen.
Carol was a graduate of Cleveland High School. She Worked for Nationwide Insurance in Raleigh for 34 years and was a devout Christian and a founding member of Wildwood Free Will Baptist Church in Clayton, NC. Carol was an active participant in the Choir, Ladies Auxiliary, and other groups in her church community.
In addition to her parents, Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Howell.
She is survived by her children, Valerie Leniton of Clayton, NC, Craig Howell of Duluth, GA, Lori Byrd and husband, Seann, of Holly Springs, NC; grandchildren, Lindsay Howell, Joseph Howell, Jordan McKeel, Camryn Byrd, Connor Byrd, and Matthew Leniton; great grandchildren, Presley Kate (PK), Sloane, and Atlas.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral home at 10:30am on Monday, November 25, 2024. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30am, just prior to the service. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
