Son of the late Oliver McClain and Irene Campbell Jones, Carroll was born June 10, 1932 in Greenville, SC. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Clayton. Carroll loved the Lord and enjoyed teaching Sunday School, as well as serving as a deacon. He was the first man at First Baptist to teach a women’s Sunday School class.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Shumaker Jones; son, Todd Jones and wife, Kimberly; grandchildren, Garrett and Taylor Jones; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Carroll was predeceased by a son, Matthew Forrest Jones, and a brother, Edwin Jones.
Funeral Service will be Thursday, July 27, 2017, at 2pm, in the McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel, 12830 US 70 Business HWY W, Clayton, NC 27520. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Zebulon, NC.
