Born May 23,1928 to the late Jarvis Booker Coats and the late Bertha Stephenson Coats, she grew up in Johnston County. There she met and married Archie Walter McCabe and their marriage spanned 66 years, until his passing.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six siblings, two grandsons, Michael Cabe Langley and Eric Shane Langley; a daughter-in-law, Diane McCabe; and a son-in-law, Jackie LaVern Benson.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara McCabe Langley Benson; her son, Tommy Doyce McCabe; grandson, Jeffery Van McCabe; sister, Gladys Coats Johnson; a daughter-in-law, Janet Langley who was married to Michael Cabe Langley; and numerous special nieces and nephews.
She taught a Sunday School Class at Beulah Hill Christian Church in Four Oaks, where she was baptized. She enjoyed participating in church activities with her children. Being a “Mother Hen”, she doted on Tommy and Barbara. It would be very remiss not to include her love for flowers and plants, with her mighty “green thumb”. She never met a stranger, so now Mother’s enjoying chatting away with all those saints in Heaven.
Mother, we love you so much and thank you.
There will be a private entombment at the Pinecrest Memorial Park Mausoleum in Clayton, North Carolina.
The family wishes to thank each and every angel that works at SECU Hospice House and the UNC Johnston Health E.R. and ICU for her excellent care. We also thank all who have shown kindness and sympathy to us.
Online condolences may be made to the family at: www.mclaurinatpinecrest.com.
