Dorothy Worley Godwin, 86, went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on December 27, 2016. Dorothy was a loving wife and mother and devoted “Nanny” to her granddaughter whom she called “Baby”. Throughout her life, she worked with Champion Clothing, where she began collecting dolls, one of her passions. She collected many dolls wherever she went throughout her life and had porcelain dolls professionally made. Another of her passions was quilting. After retiring from Champion, she handmade quilts with her husband and sister. She loved to garden and go to the beach and fish. Her biggest passion of all was children. She loved kids and seeing a child anywhere could put the biggest smile on her face. Dorothy had the biggest heart and this was most evident when she was interacting with children. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM on Friday December 30, 2016 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Petit officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8 PM at McLaurin Funeral Home. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John Ralph Godwin Jr., daughter, Susan Godwin Dutton, and son-in-law, Roland Deward Dutton Jr., and granddaughter, Makayla Renee Dutton “Baby”. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Jane and Frank Worley, sisters’ Louise Cox and Faye Moser, and brother Leamon Worley.
