ETHAN ALEXANDER DUBLE May 11, 1969 – October 8, 2014 RALEIGH: Ethan Alexander Duble passed away quietly on October 8, after an intense battle to save him from a worsening chronic illness. He is survived by his wife Kandee, his brother Dirk, his father Kirk and step brother Matthew Weider. Ethan was a man of immense talents and unusual insights. Intuitive, analytical and fiercely independent he welcomed challenges and delighted in problem solving. He was a self-taught geek long before the term “geek” became common. His mastery of all things electronic led to be a skilled network engineer and administrator of complex networks. As a lover of old VWs, Ethan at one time owned every model VW ever produces. He was enamored with the VW engine design and spent much of his free time rebuilding and restoring old bugs and Ghias. Sadly his last bug projects will miss his finishing touches. Ethan was an Army brat. He travelled with his family to Panama and 5 states during his father’s 20 year Army career. He loved adventuring in the jungles, deserts and mountains, with an unquenchable thirst for discovery and challenge. He attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical University but found the allure of computer technology more compelling. His love for solving problems led him through many Fortune 100 networks. Those who knew Ethan will never forget him. He never refused help to anyone who asked him. He was a devoted husband, loyal son and much beloved by all who were close to him. We will miss his presence and strength in our lives more than simple words can ever express. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Saturday, October 11, 2014 at McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton. Memorials in Ethan’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society. On line condolences may be made to the family at www.mclaurinatpinecrest.com.
