On Sunday, January 16, 2022 our loving father passed into his heavenly home to be reunited with his wife, Rose, in the mansion Jesus has prepared for them. Dad was fittingly born on April 1 (April Fool’s Day) in 1940 and was 81 years old.
Funeral services will be held 2pm Sunday, January 23 at Horne Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Russell officiating. Viewing will begin at 1pm. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3-5pm Saturday, January 22, 2022 at McLaurin Funeral Home.
Dad is survived by his daughter, Kelly Butler Duvall, and her husband, Joel. Kelly’s children include Lydia Peyton and husband, Dustin, Rachel Fuller and Carla Fuller. He is also survived by his son, Jon Butler, and his wife, Angela, and their children, Clara and Nathan. Jon also has a son, Matthew Cotten, who with wife, Sima, has three boys, Michael, Issac and Barret.
Dad is preceded by his wife, Rose. He loved her dearly and deeply. When she passed, he would spend the first minutes of each day in the dining room with her ashes and talk with her. We discovered in his senior yearbook and in other love letters between them their pet phrase: “I want you, I need you, I love you.” We have such peace knowing they are both together again.
We, children, took our father’s love for granted. It was easy to do when you always had someone in your corner who would do anything in his power to help you. We were so blessed to experience that kind of love.
